RAW #26

another ocd dots, tried to incorporate the rivets into the dot arrangement this time. added a simple granulated, then distressed, rectangle to the design, as well. ironically, i never wear these colors, but it is one of my favorite rings for color :)

RAW #25

finally, getting back on track! i've finished up to #27, which i'll post over the next couple of days. this one is another ocd dots ring with a window on a recycled gift card. it's a little on the large side, but fun and comfortable to wear.

an online friend recently asked about my method and the ocd dots in particular. i had to clarify, i don't actually have ocd, but feel like i must on some level when i make these dot pieces! in reality, these pieces are really relaxing to make. the loose design of the painting is very freeing and i love making them! hence, my inability to let them go :) when designing a piece, i usually start with either a gift card and take my color palette from there or a color palette and add other elements after the fact. the possibilities are endless.

RAW #23

i am soooooo behind on my RAWs, ugh. shouldn't i have MORE time to work in the summer? have managed to crank out a few though. this one uses the ocd dots, a recycled gift card and a sterling silver flower.

RAW #24

this is another ocd dots and again, it's huge! i think this one may even be bigger than the 'gauntlet' i did way back on #4 or so. this one has a lovely ceramic house riveted to it. i didn't plan it, but love how the dots have taken on a landscape feel.

still soooooo behind on my ring-a-week project, but school is finally over this week and i plan to get back in the studio with some regularity....i hope.

just listed these on etsy though. dog/cat collar tags! bling up your four-legged baby, throw it on your keychain or even wear it yourself!

RAW #22

ugh, i am so behind on my rings! having a young pup is like suddenly having a toddler again and i can rarely get to the studio :( i had such high hopes for this ring. originally, it had a light blue ceramic heart button. unfortunately, i managed to shatter that one during the riveting process and had to create a new one out of wood. i even had a vision of it shattering right before it did. how weird is that? sadly, it's not nearly as dynamic. oh well, live and learn! it does sit on the hand at an unusual angle, which i like :)

RAW #20 & #21

i got a little behind the last couple of weeks and couldn't get into the studio much. so you're getting two rings this week! #20 is one of my layered window designs using two different recycled gift cards. i was also looking for a bit more dimension and added a plastic flower cabochon.

#21 is another ocd dots ring. this one was originally designed as a pendant for the spring show, but i liked it so much i did it as a ring, too! there's a recycled gift card peeking out of the windows and two sterling silver leaf accents.

but they are oh so fun to make. this one features a peek-a-boo hole and a distressed granulation disk.

RAW52 #16: i've been crazy busy getting ready for my spring show which is this saturday and forgot to post! the lighting today was terrible, but here is #16. another ocd dots with a fun spring color combo. i like that this one is a little more moderate in size and that you can see your finger through the hole.

still having fun with the ocd dots. this one is also quite large, but i couldn't help myself! i love this ceramic button i bought from kylie parry on etsy and just had to find a way to showcase it.

spring FINALLY seems to have sprung here in calgary! and in that spirit, i give you lots of green and pink and flowers :)

this new one is more ocd dots painted on wood. the 'window' shows a glimpse of a recycled gift card. all the elements are riveted together.

rear view. this ring has a nice weight to it, largely in part to the full sheet of silver covering the back side.

RAW #13

I had a ton of fun with this ring! It is two-sided, one for day, one for night and features a figure in the 'window'. Though the wood stands quite tall, almost 3" off the top of the finger, the ring sits very comfortably and upright when on the hand. The wood is riveted onto the sterling silver ring assembly.
