WIP-wall hanging

what i've been working on the last week or so. will be a wall hanging made entirely of recycled gift cards and jump rings! the colors are so wonderful, i keep making it bigger :) stay tuned for more work-in-progress shots.

i swear i'm not lying! i have been in the studio and truly have numerous projects on the go. but they are all in a pathetic state of only partial completion, not even worthy of work-in-progress shots. so instead, here's what i worked on for valentine's day :)

this was such a fun project! i can't wait to get started on the sketchbook project limited edition. that one is due at the end of april. it doesn't go on tour like this one, but will have an opening in new york city and be part of a book publication (which is why it's limited edition and a maximum of 5000 artists). and even more exciting? my 12 year old daughter, bronwyn, is going to do one too! stay tuned...

The Sketchbook Project - part 2

my sketchbook is winging its way to the coast! posted today and should arrive in brooklyn early next week. there was something very exciting about mailing it. and apparently it was infectious. when we got home, my 11 year old, bronwyn, asked if she could do one for the limited edition project with me (due april 30th)! how cool is that?! so stay tuned over the next few months for pix of those books. but in the meantime, here are some more of the one that just left...

The Sketchbook Project

so i've been working on a sketchbook for the last couple of months, but this one is a little different. for one thing, it doesn't have any jewelry sketches in it. i've been participating in the The Sketchbook Project for the Brooklyn Art Library. The Sketchbook Project is a permanent collection of sketchbooks by artists from all over the world. at the end of april, the entire collection will be going on tour! i'll post the wheres and whens later. for now, the exciting news is, i'm finished! and with a week to spare, since the postmark date has to be before january 31st. the art library will also store the sketchbooks digitally, a link i'll share when i get it, but for now....

my drawing style tends to be a bit cartoon-y and i love colored pencils, so i had a lot of fun with this. the theme i chose was 'travel with me' and took inspiration from photos of places i have visited in my life. enjoy and i'll post a few more tomorrow!

Lazy Days

don't get me wrong, we've had the craziness of the holidays too, but we've also made sure to slow down and enjoy some days of doing nothing. just stoke the fire, make another cup of coffee and hang out in our pajamas.

i still have one more ring to get done for the ring-a-week project and then i'll be working on pages for the brooklyn art library sketchbook project.

and yet, my holiday gift is calling to me! i got a lovely mini kiln from my fabu hubby :) pix of that later when i have it laid out in the studio....

this is another of the deco granulated rings, this time with red anodized aluminum.

this ring came about as an extension of my granulation series and my love of anodized aluminum. i call it the deco granulation series. red and purple ones to follow! and some earrings and a groovy bracelet :)

this one was a complete departure for me, but i'll definitely be doing more. sterling silver cup soldered onto a silver base with silver leaf. then floated red micro beads in epoxy. SOLD

wow, has 3 weeks really passed? it has flown by! the show was, in a word, fabulous. so many lovely people came out, thank you! we had 8 hourly winners, 1 grand prize winner and 55 grab bag winners; no way i can list them all here. if you weren't present and won an hourly prize, it's in the mail!

the week after the show, i hosted (along with paul and anne) a 50th birthday party for my dear friend, veronica. the party was a blast! perhaps you're wondering why you haven't seen those pictures yet? we lost our internet that night and just got it back today, so bear with me while i play catch-up!
