BAW52/22

#22 in the brooch-a-week challenge.  revisited the dots on slices of branch motif.  having fun with it, bit of an aboriginal feel, or something you'd find in africa.

BAW52/18

BAW #18: bit of a departure on this one.  used a slice of raw wood and just a few dots with two distressed granulation accents.  think i'll have to explore this series a bit more.  really like that i can still see the grain of the wood etc.  choosing colors for the raw wood vs. my usual black wood was also a challenge.  cheers!

 day 117: today was spent in the studio.  these are all works-in-progress, 5 new brooches.

day 118: and today i finally got around to photographing some of the new brooches that i finished on friday!  these were made with recycled tongue depressors and fine silver.

BAW52/12

This one didn't turn out exactly as I envisioned, but it was a fun experiment and I got to play with my riveting tool.

BAW52/9 & 10

these are smaller brooches, about the size of a quarter.  all sterling and fine silver with two small beach stones riveted on to #10.

different recycled gift cards and fine silver rivets

 and #6, another layered window design, using 2 different recycled gift cards and fine silver rivets.  this one dangles from a silver ring.  shown here on a sweater.

BAW52/4

departed from recycled gift cards, at least for this week, and switched over to plexiglass. the plexi is raised with sections of tubing and then riveted to the silver with smaller bits of tubing.

BAW52/3

my third brooch of the week is sort of part of a set including the first two. this one also has a recycled gift card panel, but with this one i created a collage with slivers of cards before placing it in the 'window'.

some of you may remember when i participated in ring-a-week 2011.  for 2013, i joined the brooch-a-week group on flickr.  i got a weeeee bit of a slow start.  i just now posted my first brooch for week one!  oh well, better late than never.  so my BAW52/1 is the brooch on the far right.  the other two will get posted in the next couple of days.  all three are layers of recycled gift cards, sterling silver and fine silver rivets.

Finally, finally, finally got back in the studio. I signed up to participate in BAW52, that's brooch a week, and had yet to actually finish one! So I have one finished and am working in two more using my recycled gift card/layered window design. Here you see works in progress :)
