RAW #6

after a short delay here is RAW #6! Figo is being picked up we speak so more pix of him later!

this first pic is for Jewel. you wanted to see the back/assembly? i use fine silver rivets to attach all the elements. the ring shank is soldered to another silver disk that is riveted through the wood and top silver.
this new ring is more of my ocd dots coupled with a large disk of my distressed granulation.
its a bit heavier than the other dot rings due to the metal top level, but still really nice on.
stay tuned for RAW #7 and of course more pictures of Figo!

Puppy Fever

i finished RAW #6 today, but before posting that (tomorrow), just had to share....
we found out which puppy we are getting! meet Mr. Black! or as we like to call him, Figo (pronounced 'feego')! those of you who know us well are probably wondering what wine that is. well this time it's not! he's named after a real madrid soccer player from portugal ;)
more pictures after he arrives on saturday...

RAW #5

okay, i admit it, i might have gone a little crazy with this one. this is one of two mongo disks that i painted with my ocd-dot design. originally they were going to be pendants, but i was holding it in my hand and it screamed to be a ring. no joke, true story. so here it is really big, though lightweight and comfy, ring.

RAW #4

got it done before the weekend this week! how? who knows :)
this one is a variation on my distressed granulation series.

RAW #3

i was a bit rushed this week, life getting in the way, but did another painted wood ring. this time it has raised areas and tried to incorporated the rivets into the painting instead of placing them randomly.

and man, just realized i really need some lotion! :)

RAW 1 & 2

there's a group on flickr called RAW: Ring-a-Week.
last year they did ring-a-day which was a bit much for me, but figured i could handle a ring a week! got off to a rocky start with travel and house guests, but here are my first 2 week rings. week one is just a little late ;)

both rings are painted wood, riveted to a sterling silver ring assembly.

the cube looks like it would be heavy or uncomfortable, but it's really light weight and sits nicely on the hand.

Happy 2011!

happy new year all! even if it's a wee bit late (insert sheepish grin here).
was partying my tush off to help celebrate my middle sister's 40th and it was quite the bash!
so happy 40th J!!!! above is me and youngest sister, M, whoopin' it up at the parteeee.

more bling to come as i am committing to participate in RAW52 - a ring-a-week challenge on flikr. will keep you posted on how that goes, especially since with travel and house guests, i have already managed to miss week 1! never fear, i'll just have to do 2 rings for week 2 :)
have a great week, hopefully it's not as blustery where you are as it is here!

Right Back to It

as some of you may know, about 28 hours after my big fall show, we were on a plane to paris! i didn't do any post-show paperwork or even do the draw for the $20 gift certificates. but we've been home for a few days and i finally got to it all. so congratulations to lisa v., kristen g. and karen f.! your certs are in the mail! thanks to everyone who came out and made the show such a huge success!!

One more sleep...

well tomorrow is the big fall show and miraculously, i am ready! didn't think i was going to pull it off this year. the last month, i've felt so behind.
so here are a few new ones, hope they all sell tomorrow!

an expansion of the layered window series, with a granulated square riveted into one of the windows

also an expansion of the window series. these character 3d silouettes are epoxy'd into the windows.

an extra special guest artist this year...my 10 year old daughter, Bronwyn! she designed these charms in polymer clay first, we made a mould and cast them with pmc. she is bursting with excitement to be selling her designs!

and last but not least, a bit more polymer fun. for months last year, i drove by the same hill. someone had dumped a couch on it and the grass had grown up around it as high as the seat. every time i passed i'd think about what a fun art piece it would make. well i finally made it! this one is polymer clay riveted to a sterling silver back.

have a great weekend everyone!

can coughing be fatal?

well, months have gone by and i always say i'm going to post more often and somehow i never manage to. seemingly the only thing to slow me down enough to spend quality time on the computer is a cold. and its a doozy. pretty sure i need that chunk of lung i just coughed up, but what's a girl to do? hopefully you are having a better weekend than i. but i'll be back in the studio starting this week, as the kids are back to school, and will have more blingy loveliness to show you soon. stay well!

Another Layered Ring

my new fave ring! and as you can see its quite a bit larger than the others :) we'll see if i part with it for the spring show (may 1st for those in the area who'd like to mark their calendars). i could seriously make this line all day, every day! so fun. hopefully i can get some wicked new gift cards in japan!

New Mini Mongos

in addition to the new line, i've been expanding the granulated lines too. these are a new twist on the mini mongos which sprang from the full granulated necklace (affectionately named the mongo :) i wanted to make some that had a more vertical feel and less horizontal action. the first one also has 3 disks featured within the chain. enjoy and have a great weekend!

Obsessed

i have become completely obsessed with this new line! in a good way. i hope :) two more pendants, some charms, earrings, cufflinks and another ring all waiting to be photographed! until then, here are a few more pendants....

New Pendants Pt. 2

here are three more of my new multi-layered pendants. each one uses sterling silver, anodized aluminum and recycled gift cards. i'm going to have a hard time letting some of these go!

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

by popular demand here are photos of the rings instead of more pendants. more pendants later! all three rings are layers of sterling silver, anodized aluminum and recycled gift cards. and each is one-of-a-kind. sorry these pix are a little darker than usual, but i was losing the light (i prefer natural sunlight as a rule). cheers!
full frontal view
these rings feel great on. nice thick band and a really comfortable weight due to the multiple layers of metal and plastic.

New, new, new!

i have been frantically getting ready for my spring show on may 1st. it may seem far away, but i'll be away for 2 weeks over spring break and am therefore panicking as usual. this is a new line that will debut at that show. each pendant is layered with recycled gift cards, anodized aluminum and sterling silver and then riveted together. i'm having a lot of fun with them and just finished some rings tonight that turned out great! may have to make some more of those :) more pix tomorrow. there are currently 10 pendants and 3 rings, all of which are one-of-a-kinds. have a great week!

Cupcakes!

my friend and fabulous local foodie, Julie Van Rosendaal, challenged me to come up with some food-related jewelry. since i have a notorious sweet tooth, it was either donuts or cupcakes. and even though donut sprinkles would have been an interesting challenge i went with a cupcake. this pendant measures 1.5" in diameter and is made with sterling silver, anodized aluminum (in chocolate brown even though it looks darker in the picture) and a recycled gift card. fun, colorful and fewer calories than the real thing!
